No logic. Cheap squarbaru, some lifting, a toyota axle or two.. about a grand, mostly for the tires. Amazing hatch glass.

Probably the only Subaru I'd consider owning. Never seen one with solid axles before. Color me impressed.

That one might have a newer EJ motor in it, but yeah, it's a fine bunch of parts.

Functional fugly. No chrome to scratch, power seats to replace adjustment motors. Just enough to make it work, no more. Although anything less square than that and he would have had problems.

Alot more than a grand. See all the suspension work and cage? Thats over a grand in DOM steel right there. Plus the axles would be another grand and 1500 for the tcase doubler as well as the adapter to mate a Subaru engine to Toyota tcase. Unless 22re then still a fair bit. Still budget for wheeling but I'd have it at 5-7k in mod work. (Worked as a mechanic @ a Toyota specialty shop and with a bunch of Toyota rockcrawling nuts)

Thanks, I had wondered what the real cost was. I was basing my guess on junkyard parts.

The axles were at junkyard cost, there is a hell of a lot to be considered since you are mating body on frame components to a unibody vehicle. Cool idea and seems to work well enough, but rockcrawlers up to that level are never cheap. They are a labor of love and a little insanity but so much fun. For more cheap fun check out the toyota rigs with quarter elliptical rear suspensions.

Yeah, I just consider the possibility.., I hardly get the truck dirty other than wet weather.
